US Attacks Venezuela LIVE: Delcy Rodríguez Sworn In As Venezuela’s Interim President Amid Maduro Trial

Venezuela Live Updates: The deposed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s trial has begun on Monday as he was brought to New York’s Manhattan court. Maduro, who was captured along with his wife, Cilia Flores, on Saturday in a shocking US military operation, made his first appearance in court where he pleaded not guilty.

During the trial, Maduro told the court that he is still the president of his country.

“I am innocent. I am not guilty. I am a decent man, the president of my country,” Maduro said in Spanish, as translated by a courtroom interpreter, before being cut off by the judge.

Maduro’s next hearing is scheduled for March 17. Until then, he and his wife will remain in custody.

Meanwhile, Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuela’s vice president and oil minister, was formally sworn in as the interim president of the country on Monday. The move comes as thousands of protesters have taken to the streets against the US’s unprecedented move.
