The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has begun the registration for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2027 and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027 on October 1, 2026. Candidates can apply with the regular fee until October 31, while registration with a late fee will remain open until November 6, 2026, at 5 pm.

The UCEED and CEED 2027 exams will be conducted on January 17, 2027, from 9 am to noon in a single shift. Admit cards for both examinations will be available for download from January 1, 2027, at 1 pm.

UCEED is conducted for admission to Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes, while CEED is used for admission to Master of Design (MDes) and PhD programmes at participating institutes. UCEED scores are used by IITs and other participating institutes for BDes admissions, while CEED-qualified candidates can apply separately to participating institutes for postgraduate design programmes.

UCEED, CEED Educational Qualification

Candidates appearing for UCEED 2027 can be from any stream and must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam in 2026 or be appearing for it in 2027.

For CEED 2027, candidates must have completed or be appearing for a graduate degree, diploma or postgraduate degree programme of at least three years’ duration after Class 12, or meet the specified Government Diploma in Art eligibility.

UCEED, CEED Exam Pattern

The two exams follow different formats. CEED 2027 consists of Part A and Part B. Part A contains computer-based objective questions assessing areas such as visual and spatial ability, analytical and logical reasoning, environmental and social awareness, language, observation and design sensitivity. Part B tests design, drawing and writing skills, with answers written in an answer book.

For UCEED 2027, the exam is also divided into Part A and Part B, with the detailed examination pattern specified by IIT Bombay in the information brochure.

For CEED 2027, the Part-A cut-off marks will be announced on February 4, while the results will be declared on March 3, 2027. CEED scorecards will be available for download from March 10.

For UCEED 2027, the shortlist based on Part A will be announced on February 4, followed by the declaration of results on March 6. UCEED scorecards will be available from March 10.
