Communist Party of India (CPI) national secretary Amarjeet Kaur sparked a political row after appearing to issue an open threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a rally in Delhi, saying, “Tumko nipta dalenge” (we will finish you off).
Addressing the gathering, Kaur mentioned an alleged earlier remark by PM Modi about communists and said the BJP leader had described communists and their red flags as dangerous.
“Mr Narendra Modi, we know from the beginning who you want to kill. Today, we have come to say that we will finish you off (tumko nipta dalenge),” Kaur said at the rally.
“We will finish them off. This is what we have come to say,” she added.
Kaur Defends Remark
Speaking to News18 after her speech, Kaur defended her comments and refused to apologise.
“I stand by what I said, and I will not apologise. If PM can say ‘communist ko nipata do’, then why can’t I?” she said.
Her remarks have drawn criticism from BJP leaders and triggered a political confrontation between the CPI and the BJP.
In a post, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari reacted to Kaur’s statement, accusing the Left leader of having a “Naxal mindset”.
