US President Trump held talks with PM Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit and called him a “tough negotiator”.

United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday shared a photograph with Prime Minister Narendra Modi following their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
The image, posted by Trump, shows him standing alongside Modi after their bilateral meeting. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor is also seen standing alongside the two world leaders in the image.
Along with the image, Trump also shared a post of Gor which read, “Under President Trump’s leadership investment is flowing back into the United States at record levels! Indian companies plan to invest over $20.5 billion in various sectors including tech, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals. This includes the 12 Indian companies who announced $1.1 billion in investments just today! These partnerships are creating REAL American jobs and building STRONGER supply chains. Proof that when the world’s largest democracies do business together, everyone wins.”
Trump Calls PM Modi ‘Tough Negotiator’
US President Trump showered praise on PM Modi during their interaction on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. He called the prime minister a “good-looking guy” and a “tough negotiator”, while describing their conversation as “very good”.
Speaking to reporters, Trump called Modi a “tough negotiator” and said he would be visiting India “sometime in the future.”
The meeting marked the first between the two leaders since February 2025, when Modi visited Washington within weeks of Trump’s return to the White House.
Relations between the two countries have since come under strain, with Washington imposing high tariffs on Indian goods and penalising New Delhi for purchasing Russian oil.
