The Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TN TRB) has rescheduled the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2025 due to administrative reasons. Originally scheduled for November 1 and 2, Paper I and Paper II will now be held on November 15 and 16, respectively. The registration period, which began on August 11, will remain open until September 8, 2025. Interested and eligible candidates can apply by visiting the official website at trb.tn.gov.in.

The announcement comes after the Goodwill Movement leader and legislator Iniko Irudayaraj recently urged that the state government to change the date of the teacher qualification examination, which was slated to be held on Cemetery Day on November 2. In a statement issued by the leader of the Goodwill Movement and member of the Legislative Assembly, Inigo Irudayaraj, he had said, “All Souls’ Day is observed by Christians all over the world. It is a holy day for Christians. Every year on November 2nd, All Souls’ Day is the day when prayers are offered for the souls of the dead.”

TNTET is a qualifying exam for prospective teachers in the state’s primary and upper primary schools. The new dates give candidates extra preparation time and help ensure smoother exam management. Candidates should submit their applications promptly and stay updated on further announcements, such as the release of admit cards.

To apply for the Paper-2 qualifying examination, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education). To apply for the Paper-I qualifying examination, candidates should have passed class 12 and hold a diploma in Elementary Education.
