After the arrest of Jahangir Khan, the police paraded him several times in Falta area.
West Bengal Police arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jahangir Khan’s wife Sarina Bibi (37) on Saturday morning. He is accused of attacking police and central forces by gathering a crowd at Falta police station and trying to free Jahangir Khan from police custody.
According to the police, on June 16, Sarina Bibi had gathered her supporters and organized a protest outside the police station. The crowd also threw stones at the security forces. So far 27 people have been arrested in the case. Jahangir Khan was arrested by the police on June 8 near the Nepal border while fleeing from India.
After his arrest, the police paraded him several times in Falta. During this, Jahangir was seen apologizing to the people, holding his ears and folding his hands. Jahangir was the TMC candidate from Falta seat in the Bengal Assembly elections. He left the election field just before voting.

Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari had given instructions to take strict action on the incident of attack on Falta police station on June 17. He had asked the police to identify all the people seen in the video footage of protests and violence and register a case against them.
Jahangir had created Pushpa style image in Falta
Jahangir Khan is considered close to Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. He had made a strong political hold in Falta area under Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency.
He came into limelight after his debate with IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma during the assembly elections. During the election campaign, he presented himself like the main character of the film ‘Pushpa’. He had also uttered the film’s dialogue ‘Pushpa Jhukega Nahi Saala’ several times.
There were allegations of irregularities during voting in Falta on April 29. Due to this voting was cancelled. Voting took place again here on 21 May. 48 hours before the re-election, Jahangir left the election field and said that I am withdrawing my name from the election.

In the results declared on May 24, BJP won the seat by a record margin. After this Jahangir disappeared. He was neither seen at home nor in the party office. 7 FIRs were registered against him in Falta Police Station. He was accused of illegal extortion and threatening women with gangrape.
After this, Jahangir had filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court seeking information about the cases registered against him and anticipatory bail against arrest. He alleged that several criminal cases were being registered against him continuously.

1. TMC leader got his head shaved and garlanded him with shoes- In Amardaha village of Howrah, villagers shaved the head of TMC leader Sanyasi Manna, garlanded him with shoes and took him around the village. The video of the incident was revealed on June 7. People allege that he used to collect money in the name of providing benefits of government schemes. On receiving information, police reached the spot and rescued him from the crowd.

2. TMC leaders found hiding under sarees- A video of TMC leader Brahmanand Chakraborty in Howrah went viral on social media on June 7. In the video, he was seen hiding under a pile of sarees to escape the anger of the police and people. BJP also shared this video on social media.

3. Eggs thrown on the car of the arrested councilor- People threw eggs at the vehicle of TMC councilor Bappaditya Dasgupta, who was arrested on June 7 in Kolkata, while he was being taken to court. There was a protest against him outside Patuli police station also. Dasgupta has been facing many charges including extortion, threats and forced infiltration.

Recovery in the name of PM residence, money had to be returned: During June 1 and 2, a video surfaced of local TMC leader and Gram Panchayat member Madhav Chandra Laya returning money to the people in Namkhana of South 24 Parganas. It is alleged that in exchange for providing benefits of PM Awas Yojana, ₹ 5 thousand each was collected from the beneficiaries.

5. Eggs thrown at TMC MLA’s car: On the night of June 6, people threw eggs at the car of TMC MLA Madan Mitra in Kamarhati, Kolkata. The protesters were demanding return of the ‘cut money’. The MLA claimed that he was not present in the car at the time of the incident.
