The Minnesota Timberwolves powered into the second round of the NBA playoffs with a commanding 110-98 win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 6, closing out another intense postseason battle between the Western Conference rivals.
Despite missing their top three guards due to injury, Minnesota delivered a dominant interior performance led by Jaden McDaniels, who posted 32 points and 10 rebounds, while Terrence Shannon Jr. added 24 points in a surprise starting role.
Philadelphia 76ers 106-93 Boston Celtics
The Timberwolves controlled the paint through the combined efforts of Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle and Naz Reid, finishing with major advantages in rebounding and interior scoring. Nikola Jokic nearly recorded a triple-double for Denver with 28 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds, but the Nuggets struggled to keep pace. Jamal Murray was effectively contained by McDaniels and managed just 12 points on inefficient shooting.
Minnesota Timberwolves 110-98 Denver Nuggets
In the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers stayed alive with a 106-93 victory over the Boston Celtics, forcing a decisive Game 7. Tyrese Maxey scored 30 points, while Paul George rolled back the years with 23 points and 5 three-pointers. Joel Embiid contributed 19 points after returning from surgery, as Philadelphia never trailed throughout the contest.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks delivered one of the most lopsided playoff victories in league history, crushing the Atlanta Hawks 140-89 to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals. OG Anunoby starred with 29 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
“We can’t just meet the moment, we’ve got to exceed it, and I thought we did a great job of doing that tonight,” said Karl-Anthony Towns.
“Obviously you hate to lose anything. And to lose the way we did, I think, particularly given the enthusiasm and support that we’ve had from the people in this building… disappointed on a lot of levels,” said Hawks coach Quin Snyder.
New York shattered multiple playoff records, including the largest halftime lead in postseason history, before resting their starters late in the third quarter. The Knicks now await the winner of the Celtics-76ers series as they continue their pursuit of an NBA title.
