Apple CEO Tim Cook has dismissed speculation about stepping down, calling such reports “a rumour” and reaffirming his long-term commitment to the company.
In a television interview with Michael Strahan on ABC News, Cook made it clear he has no plans to slow down. “No, I didn’t say that. I haven’t said that. That’s a rumour going around,” he said, responding to claims that he may be considering stepping back from his role.
“Can’t imagine life without Apple”
Cook, who has spent nearly three decades at Apple, underscored his deep personal and professional connection with the company.
“I love what I do deeply. 28 years ago, I walked into Apple, and I’ve loved every day of it since,” he said, adding, “I can’t imagine life without Apple.”
His remarks come as Apple marks its 50th anniversary, with Cook reflecting on the company’s transformative impact — from reshaping the music industry to redefining smartphones and advancing health technology through products like the Apple Watch.
Measured stance on AI
On artificial intelligence, Cook adopted a balanced view, describing the technology as inherently neutral and dependent on how it is used.
He highlighted Apple’s focus on privacy, noting that the company prioritises on-device data processing, supported by its Private Cloud Compute system for more complex workloads.
US investment and policy outlook
Cook also pointed to Apple’s growing investment in the United States, revealing plans to spend $600 billion over the next four years. This includes expanding domestic manufacturing of key components such as iPhone glass and semiconductors, with production aimed at global supply chains.
On the possibility of tariff refunds following a recent US Supreme Court ruling, Cook said the company is closely monitoring developments and will decide its course of action based on how the situation evolves.
Focus on policy, not politics
Addressing scrutiny over his engagement with political leaders, Cook emphasised that his priority remains policy discussions rather than political alignment, noting that maintaining access to decision-makers is important for business-related issues.
For now, however, Cook’s message is clear — he is not stepping away from Apple anytime soon.
