Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff and his family are under considerable mental stress following the firing at his car in Mumbai, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said after meeting the actor at his residence late Sunday night. Shroff’s mother, Ayesha Shroff, is in shock following the incident, with the family saying the actor had no known animosity with anyone and was unaware of why he was targeted.

During his interaction with Shinde, Tiger Shroff reportedly said he had no idea why the attack took place and had not received any threats before the incident. He also said he had no indication that something like this could happen to him.

Ayesha Shroff told Shinde that her son had no animosity towards anyone and had never fought with anyone. She reportedly said he did not interact much with people, making the family even more perplexed about the motive behind the attack.

The actor also said he was not in touch with Salman Khan, according to details of the discussion shared after the meeting.

Shinde visited Shroff at his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area late Sunday night, enquired about the 36-year-old actor’s health and reassured his concerned family, assuring them of full security.

Unidentified assailants opened fire at Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. The actor escaped unhurt, while his driver and another person were injured.

Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the attempt-to-murder case against three unidentified persons.

  • Speaking to reporters after meeting Shroff, Shinde described the incident as unfortunate and said the government would not tolerate attempts to intimidate celebrities or establish the dominance of criminal gangs in Mumbai or Maharashtra.

“The safety of citizens is our priority. Why are celebrities being threatened deliberately? The police will go to the root of the matter and destroy these gangs. We will not tolerate gang wars in Mumbai. We will respond in kind,” Shinde said.

Reacting to the firing, the Deputy Chief Minister also issued a stern warning to those responsible.

“It will be tit for tat, bullets for bullets,” he said.

Shinde called for criminal networks to be uprooted, drawing a parallel with the crackdown on gangs during the 1990s, when gang wars had flourished in Mumbai.

“Their roots were dug up in the 1990s when gang wars had flourished. The time has come to uproot them in the same way again,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the police would investigate the incident thoroughly, identify those responsible and destroy the criminal networks behind such attacks.

He also said Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti had been instructed to review security arrangements for actors and other members of the film industry.

ATTEMPT-TO-MURDER CASE TRANSFERRED TO CRIME BRANCH

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against three unidentified persons in connection with the firing at Shroff’s car, officials said on Monday.

The case, initially registered by the Juhu police, has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch in view of the seriousness of the offence.

An official said the First Information Report (FIR) was registered under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with attempt to murder, and Section 3(5), concerning criminal acts committed by several persons in furtherance of a common intention.

Relevant provisions of the Arms Act have also been invoked.

With the crime branch taking over the investigation, officials are examining all possible angles, including potential links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Tracking down the three unidentified shooters remains a key challenge for investigators, and further investigation is underway.

LAWRENCE BISHNOI GANG CLAIM YET TO BE VERIFIED

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a viral social media post. However, police have not verified the authenticity of the post, and the available reports have not established a link between the gang and the shooting.

Shinde said the Mumbai Police had taken serious note of the incident and formed a special team to trace the accused. He assured the family that the assailants would be arrested soon and strict action would be taken against them.

The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the government would take whatever measures were necessary against those taking the law into their own hands, stressing that the safety of citizens and celebrities would not be compromised.

While Shroff escaped without injury, the investigation is focused on identifying the shooters, establishing the motive behind the attack and examining possible links to criminal networks.
