Nirbhay alias Akash Madhav Pakhare has been arrested.
In more horrifying details in the Nagpur shocker, police investigation has found that Thane youngster, Nirbhay alias Akash Madhav Pakhare, 19, arrested for keeping a 16-year-old Nagpur minor girl under “digital arrest” for nearly three months, assaulted her violently, whipping her with dog leashes and collars, and inflicting 20 knife wounds on her neck, wrist and genital area.
The minor victim, who is the daughter of a senior government official, was successfully rescued by the Hudkeshwar Police on August 3, 2026, from a rented flat in Nagpur’s Dighori area.
DIGITAL ARREST: THE HORROR BEGAN ON INSTAGRAM
The accused connected with the minor via a fake Instagram profile using the alias ‘Akash Mehra’. After obtaining private photographs, he threatened to leak them to force her compliance.
For three months, he kept her under digital arrest, controlling her movement using constant video calls, forcing her to sleep under her bed or go to the terrace on command.
The victim went missing on August 2, 2026. She was tied up for over 30 hours, repeatedly raped, whipped with a metal-studded leather dog leash, and slashed 20 times with a surgical blade.

30 WEAPONS, BDSM KIT: POLICE INVESTIGATION & SEIZURES
Raids conducted at the flat and the accused’s Thane residence uncovered 30 weapons (including 8 knives and choppers), a laptop, contraceptives, nylon ropes, handcuffs, and a BDSM kit bought online.
Police tracked the dog collars and leashes used to abuse the girl back to two local pet shops in Nagpur.
NIRBHAY PAKHARE DEMANDS VIP TREATMENT
Pakhare, the 20-year-old BBA student arrested in the brutal Nagpur minor girl assault case, caused nationwide outrage after demanding VIP treatment in police custody and refusing to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. Senior officials from the Hudkeshwar police station confirmed that the accused displayed zero remorse and repeatedly kept the lock-up staff on edge with luxury demands.
While in the police lock-up, Pakhare aggressively complained about the state of the facility and demanded upscale amenities. He explicitly demanded pizza for breakfast and premium meals for dinner. He grumbled about sleepless nights, demanding a thick cushion or soft bedding.
He complained that the lock-up walls were dingy and the toilets were unhygienic, demanding the immediate installation of insect repellents due to mosquito bites.
PAKHARE IS REFUSING TO COOPERATE
Pakhare strictly refused to share the passwords to his mobile phones, heavily stalling the cyber-forensic portion of the probe. He initially declined to undergo standard medical examinations required by law before eventually being forced to comply.
In a bid to deflect, Pakhare’s legal team alleged police highhandedness in court. The accused falsely claimed that officers thrashed him, stole ₹70,000 in cash from his flat, and withheld his spectacles and shoes.
According to the Times of India, police officials noted that Pakhare actively attempted to self-inflict injuries, including banging his face against the walls, to manufacture a false narrative of custodial torture.
SEX PILLS, KNIFE SLASHES, PHYSICAL TORTURE: 16-YEAR-OLD UNDERGOES EMERGENCY TREATMENTS, PLASTIC SURGERY, TRAUMA THERAPY
The 16-year-old survivor from Nagpur has been officially discharged from the hospital after undergoing extensive emergency treatments at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur.
Following intensive medical observation, doctors declared her physical condition stable enough to be discharged on August 9, 2026. While admitted, a team of specialist doctors performed critical plastic surgery on her left hand to repair the deep lacerations and nerve tissue damaged by the surgical blades used in the attack. Medical staff treated nearly 20 targeted injuries, including severe knife slashes concentrated around her wrists, neck, and genital area.
She was treated for the adverse effects of being forced to consume heavy doses of unauthorized sex-enhancing pills during her captivity.
Though physically discharged, the minor continues to battle severe physical and psychological trauma from the 30-hour physical torture and 3-month digital blackmail. Professional medical counselors and child welfare authorities are actively providing trauma therapy to help the minor process the severe ordeal.
She has been reunited with her parents under tight security and privacy to facilitate her long-term rehabilitation.
CURRENT INVESTIGATION STATUS
Following his custody period, Pakhare complained of chest pain and suffered an orbital bone fracture from self-harm, leading to his temporary admission to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur under strict surveillance.
The court has formally remanded him to magisterial (judicial) custody. He will be transferred straight to a highly monitored jail cell as soon as doctors clear him for discharge.
Although the accused has blocked access to his own devices, the police have successfully unlocked the 16-year-old survivor’s phone to map out the digital trail of blackmail and grooming.
LEGAL ACTION & CURRENT STATUS
The accused faces stringent charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
Pakhare is currently lodged in the ‘adaan cell’ barrack at the Nagpur Central Jail under strict round-the-clock vigil.
Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and senior police authorities have announced a strict 30-day deadline to file the chargesheet and have requested a fast-track court trial.
