Tata Motors has announced an increase in the prices of its commercial vehicles by up to 2.5%. The new rates will come into effect from July 1. This is the second increase in prices made by the company in the current financial year 2026-27.
The company said that this step has to be taken to reduce the impact of rising commodity prices and other input costs. This increase in prices will vary depending on different models and variants.
New rates will be applicable from July 1
Tata Motors said in a statement issued on June 18 that the new prices will be effective across its entire commercial vehicles portfolio from July 1. The company has not yet disclosed the change in prices according to the model.
Tata Motors sells small commercial vehicles, pick-up trucks, intermediate and heavy commercial vehicles as well as buses in India.
Prices increased for the second time this year
Tata Motors has increased the prices for the commercial vehicles business for the second time in this financial year. Earlier in the month of April also, the company had increased the prices of its commercial vehicles by 1.5% citing rising commodity prices and input costs.
The company has mainly cited increased costs as the main reason behind the latest change. This time the increase of up to 2.5% is more than the 1.5% increase made in April.
Prices of passenger vehicles will also increase
Just a few days before this, Tata Motors had announced an increase in the prices of its passenger vehicles portfolio by up to 1.5%. The new prices of passenger vehicles will also be applicable from July 1.
The company had attributed this increase to rising input costs and inflationary pressure. This increase will be applicable to both internal combustion engine (ICE) models and electric vehicles (EVs) sold by the company.
What is input cost?
The total cost of manufacturing any vehicle, including the price of raw materials (such as steel, aluminium, plastic and rubber), wages and other factory expenses, is called input cost.
When these things become expensive in the international or domestic market, companies pass some of the burden on the customers.
