Taiwan “should pay” Washington for its defence as it does not give the country anything, US presidential candidate Donald Trump told Bloomberg Businessweek. Trump’s remarks came after he was questioned if he would defend self-ruled Taiwan from China, which claims the island as part of its territory. While Washington does not diplomatically recognise the island, it is a key partner and major weapons provider to Taipei.
