Sreedhanya Suresh is Kerala’s first female IAS officer from the tribal community. Her accomplishment is truly remarkable. Sreedhanya Suresh excelled academically from a young age. Her parents supported her ambitions by working as laborers in MNREGA. She completed her schooling at St. Joseph’s College, Calicut, and earned her Master’s degree in Zoology from Calicut University, Kozhikode. After completing her Masters, Sreedhanya Suresh secured a job in the Scheduled Tribe Development Department of the Kerala State Government. She worked as a warden in a hostel for tribal students. Despite a good salary, Suresh felt unsatisfied with her job. She had big dreams and goals and did not want to spend her life as a warden. In 2018, Sreedhanya Suresh successfully passed the UPSC Prelims and Mains exams. Despite clearing the Mains exam, she encountered further challenges. She did not have the funds to travel to Delhi for her interview, but her friends supported her by collectively contributing Rs 40,000 to help her move closer to her goal of becoming an IAS officer.
