The UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered one of the toughest in the world, yet some individuals conquer every challenge through sheer determination and hard work. One such inspiring example is Dongre Revaiah, who realised his dream of becoming an IAS officer despite poverty and extremely difficult circumstances.

Born into an underprivileged family, Revaiah’s childhood was marked by struggle but also by big dreams. His father passed away after a prolonged illness, leaving his mother to shoulder all responsibilities. She worked as a cook for mid-day meals at a government school to support the family. Their financial condition was so weak that even daily necessities were hard to manage. Still, his mother firmly believed in the power of education and never allowed her children’s studies to suffer.

Grabbed A Seat At IIT Madras, Cleared GATE

From an early age, Revaiah was a bright and hardworking student. With consistent effort, he cleared the IIT-JEE exam and secured admission to IIT Madras. This achievement was a turning point in his life, but it also brought new challenges. The fees and other expenses at IIT were difficult to manage given the family’s financial condition. At one point, it seemed that his dream of studying at a premier institute might slip away. However, with timely support from the district administration, he was able to continue his education and fulfil his dream of studying at IIT.

After completing his education at IIT, Revaiah cleared the GATE exam and secured a well-paying job in Hyderabad. For many, this would have been the end of the struggle and the beginning of a comfortable life. But Revaiah’s true aspiration lay elsewhere. He wanted to join the civil services and serve society at a larger scale. So, even while working, he continued to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, balancing the demands of a full-time job with the rigorous study schedule required for one of the toughest exams in the country.

His perseverance finally paid off. Through consistent hard work and unwavering dedication, Dongre Revaiah cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2022, securing an All India Rank of 410. This was a remarkable achievement, especially considering the hardships he had faced throughout his life. His success filled his entire family with immense joy. For his mother, who had spent years working tirelessly and sacrificing her own comfort for her children’s education, this moment was the true reward for all her struggles.

His story shows that no matter how adverse the circumstances, dreams can be achieved with determination, hard work, and the right support. It also highlights the role of a strong and supportive parent who refuses to let poverty dictate her children’s future.
