Four people, including two women, have been arrested by Chandra Layout police for allegedly abducting, stripping and assaulting a woman in Bengaluru following a dispute over loan repayment.
The accused have been identified as Nazrath, Reshma, Suhail and Saif. Police said the woman was allegedly assaulted and filmed, following which the accused threatened to circulate the video online.
The incident reportedly took place between August 27 and August 31 within the limits of the Chandra Layout police station.
According to the complaint, the woman had borrowed Rs 1 lakh from Reshma around two years ago. She allegedly stopped paying the interest six months ago due to financial difficulties.
She had also borrowed Rs 50,000 from Nazrath, whom she knew through Reshma. The woman had been paying Rs 5,000 a week towards the loan but allegedly stopped the payments for around four weeks.
Woman Lured On Pretext Of Work
The complainant alleged that on August 27, she was called to Nazath’s house on the pretext of some work. After sometime, Reshma, her husband Suhail and two others entered Nazath’s house in Metro Layout, assaulted her with a knife and their hands, damaged her mobile phone and forcibly took her and her young son in an autorickshaw to Kumbalgodu.
She further alleged that she was beaten with a stick, confined in a room and threatened over repayment of an alleged Rs 11 lakh, including interest.
The FIR also stated that the complainant was allegedly forced to partially undress and was filmed on a mobile phone, with the accused allegedly threatening to circulate the video if she failed to pay.
The woman also alleged that she was taken to a lawyer near a market and made to sign certain papers before being brought back to Kumbalgodu.
On the pretext of going to the toilet, the victim alerted police. She was subsequently rescued after police reached the house and took her to Chandra Layout Police Station, the FIR said.
Based on her complaint, police registered a case, following which four people were arrested in connection with the alleged assault. Further investigation is underway.
