The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the tentative number of vacancies for the Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) recruitment for 2025. The detailed vacancy breakdown is available in the article below as a PDF.
According to the data, a total of 7,948 vacancies have been reported. This includes 6,078 posts for MTS (18–25 years), 732 posts for MTS (18–27 years), and 1,138 positions for Havaldar in CBIC and CBN units.
Out of the total vacancies, 3,679 are unreserved, 1,973 are allocated to OBC, 859 to SC, 621 to ST, and 816 to EWS categories. Additionally, there are about 310 vacancies across various PwD categories, and 731 are reserved for ex-servicemen.
The SSC MTS Havaldar exam is a recruitment process to fill Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar positions in various government departments. The selection process includes a computer-based test, with Havaldar candidates also required to pass a physical test.

Nationality: Indian citizen
Educational Qualification: Passed matriculation (10th class) from a recognised board on or before 01-08-2025
Age Limit (as of August 1, 2025): MTS: 18-25 years

Selection process:
Computer-Based Test (CBT): A two-session online exam for both MTS and Havaldar posts
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Mandatory for Havaldar posts only
Walking: 1600m in 15 minutes for males; 1 km in 20 minutes for females
Cycling: 8 km in 30 minutes for males; 3 km in 25 minutes for females
Physical Standards: Required for Havaldar posts
Height: Male: 157.5 cm; Female: 152 cm
Chest: Male: 76 cm (expanded); 81 cm (expanded)
Exam details:
Exam Pattern: The CBT is held in two sessions
Session 1: Numerical Ability, Mathematical Ability, Reasoning Ability, and Problem Solving
Session 2: General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension
To apply, candidates must have completed class 10 examinations from a recognised Indian education board, meet the specific age requirements (18-25 for MTS and 18-27 for Havaldar, with relaxations), and submit an online application by the deadline, paying the Rs 100 fee (unless exempt).
