Son being blackmailed about having a false son perhaps?
Two people in South Korea have been arrested for allegedly blackmailing Spurs and South Korea captain Son Heung-min with a pregnancy claim, local police reported Thursday.
The two allegedly tried to extort money from the 32-year-old forward by falsely claiming that the woman was pregnant with Son’s child, Yonhap news agency said.
Police had arrested a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s, and were investigating allegations they tried to extort money from Son, local media reported on Thursday, citing police.
The footballer’s agency, Son & Football Limited, said it filed a police complaint for blackmail and will pursue “strong legal action without leniency”.
The two “threatened the player by saying they would spread false information”, his agency Son & Football Limited said in a statement.
“The police are currently investigating, so we will let you know the results as soon as they are available,” they added.
“We stress that Son Heung-min is unequivocally the victim in this case,” it added.
Son looking to “complete the puzzle” with Spurs
Son recently vowed to “complete” his Tottenham career by leading the struggling Premier League team to Europa League glory in the final against Manchester United on May 21.
At a Europa League presser, Son said: “We’ve been talking about this for years. The biggest reason I stayed at Tottenham was that I wanted to do something others couldn’t achieve.
“That’s probably why I’m where I am now. You need all the pieces to complete a puzzle. I think I’ve gathered all the other pieces to make that puzzle complete.
“It feels like I’ve been missing that one most important final piece, and I’ve been trying to find it for the past 10 years. I really hope I can finally complete the puzzle this time.
“It feels different this time. I really want to win – more than anyone else, I think. So many people are supporting us with the same desperate passion I feel. If we prepare well, I believe we can achieve it.”
Spurs captain Son has scored 173 goals in 451 appearances across 10 seasons in North London but has failed to end the club’s 17-year trophy drought so far.
