India batter Sanju Samson scored his second successive duck against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 30 July. Batting in the third T20I match of the series, Samson holed out a harmless fuller length delivery from Chamindu Wickramasinghe to deep point in the third over of the match. Before this, Samson was clean-bowled by Maheesh Theekshana in the second T20I match of the series.
Samson, who broke his way into the T20 World Cup 2024 squad did not get a single chance to play in the ICC tournament. In the warm-up match against Bangladesh, Samson struggled in the opening position and scored just 1 off 6 balls in the difficult track of New York.

Samson was benched for the entirety of the T20 World Cup and only got to play in the Zimbabwe series, held right after the ICC tournament. Samson scored a half-century in that series and was drafted into the T20I squad under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir. Samson, who would have liked to impress in the 3-match series, failed in both his outings scoring 0,0 in the second and third T20I of the series.
Samson has not been named in the ODI squad in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
