1. Silver at all time high of ₹2.48 lakh: Today became costlier by ₹4,850, gold increased by ₹15 to ₹1.37 lakh

Silver prices have reached all time high on January 7. According to India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA), it has increased by Rs 4,850 to Rs 2,48,000 per kg. Earlier yesterday it was at Rs 2,43,150.
At the same time, the price of gold is falling today. The price of 10 grams of 24 carat gold has increased by Rs 15 to Rs 1,36,615. Earlier it was at Rs 1,36,660. Whereas gold had reached all time high of Rs 1,38,161 on 29 December 2025.

2. India’s GDP growth estimated at 7.4%: First advance estimate released for financial year 2025-26; Economy grew rapidly in manufacturing and service sectors

The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI) has released the first advance estimates of the country’s economic growth for the financial year 2025-26. According to government data, India’s real GDP growth is expected to be 7.4% this year i.e. in the financial year 2025-26. Earlier the government’s estimates were 6.3%–6.8%.
Whereas in the last financial year (2024-25) this growth rate was 6.5%. The boom in manufacturing, construction and service sectors is being considered as the main reason for this growth. Earlier in December, RBI had increased its GDP estimate from 6.8% to 7.3%.

3. Government asked airlines how much fare was collected in December: Passengers had to pay many times the fare when 4500 IndiGo flights were cancelled.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought complete data of average fares charged during the month of December from IndiGo including Air India, SpiceJet and Akasa Air. The central government took this step when Indigo canceled thousands of flights last month due to shortage of pilots. Due to which the passengers faced a lot of trouble and had to pay many times the fare.
IndiGo, which has about 63% share in India’s aviation market, had canceled about 4,500 flights in December alone. The company faced a severe shortage of pilots, forcing it to ground a large number of its 2,300 daily operations.

The troubles of Eternal, the parent company of food delivery platform Zomato and quick commerce service Blinkit, seem to be increasing. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) department of West Bengal has sent a demand order of ₹3.7 crore to the company.
This matter is related to the shortfall in tax payment during the financial year 2019-20. The company has confirmed this notice in the information given to the stock market on Tuesday evening.
