The Ministry of Labour and Employment has released the draft National Labour and Employment Policy — Shram Shakti Niti 2025 for public consultation. The policy lays out a roadmap for creating a fair, safe, and inclusive world of work, in line with the national vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Inspired by India’s traditional ethos of srama dharma — dignity of labour — the policy focuses on protection, productivity, and participation for all workers. It aims to balance workers’ welfare with enterprise growth and promote sustainable livelihoods.
The policy seeks to position the Labour Ministry as an employment facilitator and proposes strengthening the National Career Service (NCS) as India’s Digital Public Infrastructure for jobs. The upgraded platform will use AI tools and multilingual access to connect job seekers with verified opportunities across cities, towns, and rural areas.
