Shiv Sena UBT Crisis Live: Crucial Parliamentary Party Meet In Delhi Ends, 6 Absent MPs To Be Served Letters

Shiv Sena Operation Tiger, Maharashtra Politics Live Updates: The crucial Shiv Sena (UBT) Parliamentary Party meeting, which was underway in New Delhi amid intense speculation over a possible split in the party’s Lok Sabha ranks, was concluded after nearly one-and-a-half hours.

The meeting, which was held at the party’s office in the Parliament Complex, came a day after the Uddhav Thackeray-led party issued a whip directing all its MPs to attend. However, six MPs remained absent from the party meeting, and it was learnt that a letter to them will be issued in the next couple of days.

Senior leaders Sanjay Raut, Arvind Sawant and Rajabhau Parag Prakash Waje arrived at Parliament ahead of the meeting, which was being closely watched for signs of whether the party can retain its parliamentary strength.

RAUT’S WARNING TO ABSENT MPS

As he arrived for the meeting, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut issued a stern warning to party lawmakers. “If we come to you, we will not come to you as a bastard,” he said, signalling the party’s hardening stance against any potential rebels.

Meanwhile, Arvind Sawant expressed confidence when asked whether all party MPs would attend the meeting, responding with a thumbs-up gesture.

UDDHAV THACKERAY HELD PRE-MEETING DISCUSSIONS

Sources said Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray held discussions with Sanjay Raut and Arvind Sawant ahead of the parliamentary party meeting. He reportedly sought details about the agenda and likely proceedings of the gathering and also offered suggestions regarding the conduct of the meeting.

According to sources, some MPs are uncomfortable with the leadership and style of functioning within the Uddhav Thackeray faction. However, they have not yet publicly declared their position.

Sources indicated that these MPs are waiting for political guarantees before taking a final decision. Such assurances are said to include ministerial berths, future election tickets, regional political influence and legal protection.

NUMBERS GAME IN FOCUS

The meeting assumes significance amid reports that a section of Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs is exploring the possibility of forming a separate group. Sources in the Uddhav camp, however, maintain that the rival faction does not yet have the support required to formally establish a separate bloc.

The attendance and outcome of Thursday’s meeting are expected to provide a clearer picture of the party’s internal situation.
