Several Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threat Emails, Search Operations Underway

Several schools in the national capital received bomb threat emails on Wednesday morning, prompting swift action by police and security agencies.

Authorities said threat emails were sent to SKV Malviya Nagar and Andhra School in Prasad Nagar, with the possibility that more schools may have been targeted.

“Several schools in Delhi have received threatening emails. Bomb threats were reported at two schools at 7:40 AM and 7:42 AM. Police and other agencies have reached the schools and are conducting searches. Threat emails were sent to SKV Malviya Nagar and Andhra School, Prasad Nagar, with the possibility that more schools may have been targeted,” IANS quoted Delhi Fire Services as saying.

Police and other supporting agencies are present at the spot and a massive search operation is underway.

‘Terrorisers 111’ Claim Responsibility

Delhi Police said that a group calling itself ‘Terrorisers 111’ has sent emails to several schools, including DAV Public School, Faith Academy, Doon Public School and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, demanding USD 25,000. The same organisation had earlier issued a bomb threat on August 18, demanding USD 5,000 in cryptocurrency.

The group claimed to have hacked the IT systems of schools and warned that bombs would be exploded on the campus within 48 hours.

August 18 Bomb Threat

Coming just days after a similar incident, the situation has once again raised concerns among students, parents and school staff.

On August 18, Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka had to be evacuated after a bomb threat call was received around 7:00 am. In that case, too, the authorities responded immediately and bomb squads conducted a thorough search.

Thankfully, the threat turned out to be a hoax.

Over 50 Schools Targeted Earlier

This latest threat also brings back horrifying memories of an incident last month, when over 50 schools across Delhi received similar email threats.

Those messages had triggered widespread panic, forcing several institutions to shift to online classes and emergency operations, including dog squads, fire brigade and bomb disposal squads, to be conducted across the city. All those threats were later deemed to be unreliable.

In each of these cases, evacuation and on-the-spot verification have remained standard protocol to ensure the safety of students and staff before normal functioning resumes.

The Delhi Police is currently investigating the source of the latest email, while cybercrime units are working to trace the sender or group that appears to be responsible for repeatedly causing disruptions.

Authorities are urging the public to remain calm but vigilant, as the safety of children and school communities remains the top priority.
