The AP government has announced a holiday for schools, colleges and all educational institutions across Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore and Prakasam districts today.

The low pressure forming in the South Bay of Bengal will strengthen by Monday and move towards the coast and Tamil Nadu. Due to this effect, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in many districts of AP from 14th to 17th, officials of the Meteorological Department said. Based on the IMD report, heavy rains are likely in Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor and Annamaiya districts on Monday.

Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast for Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, YSR, Annamaiya, Tirupati, Chittoor and Sri Satyasai districts of AP on Tuesday under the influence of low pressure. On Wednesday, there is a chance of heavy to very heavy rains in Bapatla, Prakasam, Nandyala, Kurnool, Anantapur, YSR and Nellore districts and very heavy rains in Sri Satyasai, Annamaiya, Chittoor and Tirupati districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains will occur in Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Prakasam, Kurnool, Nellore, YSR, Anantapur, Srisatyasai, Annamaiya and Chittoor districts by Thursday, with winds of 45 to 65 kilometers per hour.

In this background, the government was alerted and issued early instructions to the collectors of all the districts. Fishermen are warned not to go hunting. The government has issued instructions to the concerned authorities to ensure that the people of the low-lying areas are alert and that no danger befalls them.
