As the summer vacation period comes to an end, the Education Departments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have confirmed that all schools will reopen on June 15, 2026. The summer vacations began on April 24. Prior to that, schools were directed to function from 8 am to 12:30 pm. Midday meals were asked to be served to students in government schools after classes conclude. The order was given to all primary, upper primary and high schools under government, government-aided and private management.
No Extension of Summer Vacation
The announcement puts an end to recent speculation about a possible extension of the holidays. Over the past few weeks, several unverified social media posts claimed that the summer break could be prolonged due to prevailing weather conditions. Education officials have categorically denied these reports, describing them as baseless and advising parents and students to rely only on official communications, reported Moneycontrol.
Authorities emphasised that reopening schools as scheduled is essential for the timely completion of the academic syllabus, smooth conduct of examinations, and overall academic progress during the 2026–27 academic year.
The Education Department has urged parents and students not to trust unverified information circulating on social media platforms and messaging applications. “Misinformation only creates confusion. We request everyone to follow updates only from official Education Department channels or through recognised school authorities,” an official said.
