External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday said he received a phone call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, with the two discussing the evolving situation in and around Iran.
Jaishankar shared the information in a brief post on social media site X.
The call comes as Iran faces massive anti-government protests and a widening security crackdown, prompting India to issue a fresh advisory asking its nationals to leave the country. According to PTI, New Delhi has urged all Indian citizens currently in Iran, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists, to leave by available means and has strongly advised against travel to the country until further notice.
