Russia sends over 450 tonnes of medicines and humanitarian aid to Iran in a single day, highlighting Moscow’s support for Tehran amid the ongoing regional crisis.

Russia has delivered a fresh consignment of medicines and humanitarian assistance to Iran, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, as Moscow highlighted its support for Tehran amid the ongoing regional crisis.
According to Zakharova, a second major shipment of medicines, requested by the Iranian government, is amounting to more than 300 tonnes.
Nearly 150 tonnes of humanitarian aid collected by residents and charities in Dagestan in South Russia, were also sent to Iran.
The latest supplies take Russia’s publicly announced assistance to Iran to over 450 tonnes in a single day, underscoring Moscow’s effort to project support through medical and relief aid.
Zakharova shared the update on social media, framing the shipment as part of Russia’s humanitarian outreach to Iran. While Moscow did not immediately release a detailed breakdown of the cargo, the consignment was described as including medicines and emergency relief material intended for civilian needs.
The announcement comes at a time when Iran has been facing mounting pressure from the conflict in the region, with Russia positioning itself as one of Tehran’s key diplomatic and strategic partners.
The reference to Dagestan, a Russian republic in the North Caucasus, also points to regional mobilisation inside Russia to support the aid effort, beyond the federal government’s formal assistance channels.
Russia has in recent years used humanitarian shipments as part of its wider foreign policy messaging, especially in conflict-linked theatres where it seeks to demonstrate political backing alongside diplomatic engagement.
