Rs 4-Crore Bridge Collapses In Bihar Within 6 Years, Major Areas Cut Off

A bridge over the Parmain River in Bihar’s Araria district has been damaged, disrupting connectivity between the Pategna and Forbesganj blocks. This bridge, constructed by the Rural Works Department in 2019 at a cost of around Rs 4 crore, saw one of its pillars sink into the river.

The incident, which occurred in the Kauachar area of Forbesganj, has caused considerable disruption and chaos at the scene.

According to reports, a span of the bridge in Kelwashi village of the Forbesganj block has sunk into the river, breaking the vital link between Forbesganj and Pategna.

Chandrashekhar Kumar, the executive engineer of the Rural Works Department in Araria, confirmed over the phone that the four-span bridge, built at significant expense, has suffered this structural failure.
