Junior doctors raise slogans amid their protest in Kolkata (PTI photo)
Mamata Banerjee has agreed to the demands of the junior doctors. However, the doctors said their protests will continue until the Chief Minister’s promises are fulfilled.
West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Forum (WBJDF), which met Mamata Banerjee on Monday, said they would continue their stir unless the Chief Minister materialises the promises she made to them. During the meeting, Mamata Banerjee announced she would remove Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, the director of health services and the director of medical education, giving in to the demands of the protesting junior doctors.
The announcement by the Chief Minister came after an extensive meeting with the agitating doctors.
The protests have been ongoing for more than a month, over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.
