Premier League side Tottenham confirmed that Sporting Director Fabio Paratici would leave the London-based club in February and join Italian outfit Fiorentina.
The 53-year-old Paratici, who returned to Spurs in October after serving a ban, will try to deploy his expertise to guide the Serie A side away from the relegation zone.
“I want to thank Vinai and the Board of Tottenham Hotspur for accommodating my desire to return to Italy and join Fiorentina,” he said.
“I have loved my time at the Club, however this opportunity, together with the need to be based in my homeland, has led me to this decision.”
Paratici resigned as managing director of football in April 2023 after his appeal against a ban related to his involvement in transfer deals and finances at Juventus was rejected by Italy’s top sports body. Both Paratici and Juventus denied any wrongdoing. After serving his ban, he returned in October as a Sporting Director to work alongside Johan Lange.
“We have agreed that Fabio will return to Italy following the conclusion of the January transfer window, in line with his wish to move back home,” Tottenham Chief Executive Officer, Vinai Venkatesham said.
“Our management structure is designed to be resilient to personnel changes, and it will be business as usual moving forward,” Venkatesham added.
Fiorentina stand 17th in the Italian top-flight with just 14 points in 20 outings in the ongoing season, winning a mere two games, drawing eight and losing ten.
Spurs are placed 14th in the PL with 27 points from 21 games, winning seven, drawing six and tasting defeat in the other eight fixtures as Thomas Frank look to find solutions for the club’s issues.
