In Tamil Nadu, a red alert has been issued for four districts including Chengalpattu and Cuddalore on Wednesday, and an orange alert has been issued for twelve districts including Chennai and Kancheepuram.

Due to a low-pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal, a red alert has been issued for extremely heavy rainfall today in Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, and Villupuram. A red alert has also been issued for Puducherry and Karaikal.

An orange alert has been issued for extremely heavy rainfall today in ten districts including Chengalpattu, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for three days starting Tuesday for Chennai, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur.

A red alert has been issued for four districts, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, and Puducherry, for very heavy rain on Wednesday.

An orange alert has been issued for Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Nagapattinam districts on Wednesday.

Depending on the intensity of the rain, district collectors usually declare holidays for schools and colleges as a precautionary measure. While various districts in Tamil Nadu have been given red and orange alerts, no school or college has been declared a holiday so far. However, depending on the intensity of the rain, there is a high possibility that announcements will be made in the evening.
