President Donald Trump on Monday shrugged off concerns about his noticeably hoarse voice, explaining only he could deliver: he had been shouting at people who were “stupid” about trade.

“It wasn’t an illness,” Trump told reporters. “I was shouting at people because they were stupid about something having to do with trade in a country. I straightened it out, but I blew my stack at those people.”

Trump refused to identify the country that allegedly tried to renegotiate trade terms, saying only he “wasn’t happy about it.” He repeatedly insisted his health was not an issue, responding that he felt “great” when asked directly.

His raspy tone, however, prompted questions about whether he might be coming down with something. Trump dismissed that outright, attributing the strain entirely to the trade-related confrontation.

TRUMP’S RECENT MEDICAL HISTORY

The exchange comes as the 79-year-old former president’s health has faced increased scrutiny. In October, he spent three hours at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for what the White House described as a scheduled follow-up visit, including lab work and preventive evaluations.

According to Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, Trump, “remains in exceptional health,” with strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical performance. Advanced imaging and lab tests were conducted in part to prepare for upcoming overseas travel. Barbabella noted that Trump’s “cardiac age” measured roughly 14 years younger than his actual age.

Earlier, Trump’s April 2021 annual physical declared him fully fit for office and noted that he had shed 20 pounds since his 2020 exam. The White House has attributed the improvement to an active lifestyle.

In July, Trump sought medical attention after noticing mild swelling in his lower legs. Tests revealed chronic venous insufficiency — a common, age-related condition caused by weakened vein valves that make it harder for blood to flow upward.
