The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched a nationwide signature campaign demanding the death penalty for those accused in the Ram Temple donation theft case. The campaign began with a Sundarkand recital and Lord Hanuman Ji’s aarti in the national capital.
During the campaign, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal signed a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter was also signed by devotees present at the event.
Before the launch, Kejriwal and his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, recited the Hanuman Chalisa. He urged supporters across the country to organise similar events in their localities and collect signatures in support of the campaign.

Taking to X, Kejriwal wrote, “Today, bhakts of Bhagwan Ram across the world are in deep anguish. We recited the Sundarkand today to pledge that we will not rest until those who committed the dacoity at the home of our revered Prabhu Shri Ram are brought to justice and hanged. With this very objective, we are issuing a letter addressed to the Prime Minister today. I appeal to people across the country to organise recitations of the Hanuman Chalisa, invite others, and gather signatures on this letter. This is our duty.”
Addressing the gathering, the former Delhi Chief Minister alleged large-scale irregularities in the administration of the temple. “A ‘dacoity’ has taken place in the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. It has deeply hurt Ram bhakts across the world,” he said.
Claiming that CCTV footage had captured multiple thefts, Kejriwal alleged that influential people were being shielded. “The entire system is engaged in protecting ‘Chanda-Chors,’” he said, adding that devotees should continue the movement until the accused are punished.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia also backed the campaign, saying, “Today, we recited the sacred Sundarkand in Delhi and prayed to Hanuman Ji Maharaj that those sinners who robbed the Ram Mandir and played with the faith of crores of Hindus receive the harshest possible punishment.”
As part of the campaign, AAP released a letter to the Prime Minister demanding strict action against those allegedly involved in the case.
“Prime Minister, you personally took the lead in every aspect related to the Shri Ram Mandir. You constituted the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and personally selected and appointed each of its members, all of whom are considered to be your close associates. Now, after such large-scale wrongdoing, your silence has deeply saddened me. Since before 2021, the media has prominently reported allegations of land scams involving the Trust, demands for commissions of up to 40% in construction works, and now the ‘chanda-chori’ of Mandir offerings on such a massive scale,” the letter stated.
“Those guilty of stealing from the Mandir of Bhagwan Ram should be hanged. Protecting them is ‘mahapaap’. I am writing this letter to you with great hope,” it further read.
