A man from Nagaur district in Rajasthan has gone missing after an Iranian missile struck an oil tanker near Oman, amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, according to his family.
The missile hit the vessel on the morning of March 1 while it was stationed at Khasab Port, causing significant damage to the ship. Dalip Singh, a resident of Khinwatana village, began his duty on the tanker operated by Skylight Company on January 22.
At the time of the attack, Dalip was in the forward section of the ship with another crew member, Ashish Kumar from Bihar. While Kumar’s body has been recovered, Dalip remains untraceable, his brother Devendra Singh said.
Devendra added that most of the crew were evacuated safely, but Ashish and two others, including Dalip, went missing. Dalip last spoke to his family on February 28.
Another crew member from Nagaur, Sunil Kumar, had completed his shift before Dalip took over duties, Devendra said.

The incident comes amid rising concerns for Indian seafarers in the region. As many as 37 Indian-flagged ships with over 1,000 seafarers are currently stranded in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, and adjoining waters, as the key shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz remains closed due to the ongoing military conflict.
At least three Indian seafarers on foreign-flagged vessels have been killed, and one injured, since the escalation began.
In response, the Shipping Ministry has set up a dedicated quick response team to coordinate with authorities, provide immediate assistance to Indian sailors, and support their families.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also established a control room, highlighting that nearly one crore Indian citizens live in West Asia and their safety is a top priority.
The wider conflict intensified after the US and Israel launched military strikes on Iran on February 28, killing Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has targeted Israel, American military bases, and several Gulf countries, including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, threatening critical oil and gas infrastructure in the region.
