Bangalore has the second largest manufacturing site of Foxconn outside China, with an invested of around Rs 25,000 crore.
Foxconn, a smartphone maker for Apple, has started production of iPhone 17 in India. According to the Economic Times report, this production has started in the new plant in Bengaluru.

Earlier, China had suddenly recalled more than 300 engineers and technicians who made iPhones in India. Due to this, the production of iPhone 17 was interrupted.
Now the company is now ending this gap by calling experts from other countries including Taiwan. However, the production of iPhone 17 in India has started on a small scale.
Chinese engineers handle high-tech assembly lines in India
Chinese engineers were working to train Foxcon’s high-tech assembly line, factory design and Indian employees.
For this, the Government of India had also provided visa facility for Chinese engineers, so that there is no obstruction in production.
India overtakes China in sending iPhone to America
India has become the largest exporter of smartphones to America, leaving behind China. This is an indication that the manufacturing supply chain between tariff war is moving away from China. According to research firm Canalis, Made in India was 44% of the imported smartphones in the US in April-June this year.
India was only 13% in April-June last year. On the other hand, China’s share in the smartphone exported to the US declined to 25% in the June quarter, which was 61% a year ago.

India is becoming the hub of iPhone manufacturing
2.39 million iPhones have been made in India till June this year. 78% of iPhones sold in America are being made in India. According to market researcher Canalis, between January and June in 2025, India has a 23.9 million (2 crore 39 lakh) iPhone, which is 53% higher than the previous year.
According to research firm Cybermedia Research, the export of iPhone from India (iPhone sent abroad) has also increased to 22.88 million (2 crore 28 lakh) units. Last year, the figure of iPhone manufacturing in India was 15.05 million (1 crore 50 lakh) in the same period (January to June). That is, it has increased by 52% on an annual basis.
