In Pakistan -occupied Kashmir, protesters took several soldiers hostage on Wednesday.
In Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK), protesters protesting the subsidy cut on basic needs have taken 25 soldiers of security forces hostage.
These soldiers are being used as a human shield, due to which the security forces are unable to take any direct action.
The protesters allege that intelligence agencies are conducting secret attacks to break the movement. Unknown people in plain clothes target leaders and spread chaos in the crowd.

10 killed in agitation, more than 100 injured
The security forces fired on unarmed people on Wednesday to stop the protesters. 8 people died in this, while more than 100 people were injured.
So far 10 people have been killed in these demonstrations released four days. According to media reports, today 4 people were killed in Dhirkot in Tiger district, 2 deaths in Muzaffarabad and 2 in Mirpur.
These demonstrations are being held on the appeal of Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC). The protesters are accusing the government of ignoring fundamental rights and not being able to control inflation.
People are marching towards Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pok today. They have placed 38 demands in front of the government, including the demand to abolish 12 reserve seats in the POK assembly.

Why demand to abolish 12 reserve seats in POK
These seats are reserved for refugees or migrants from Jammu and Kashmir part of India. These people left POK from India due to 1947, 1965, 1971 war or later struggles.
Reserved seats reduce the representation of the local population. Local people want more MLAs to be elected for their problems and needs. JKJAAC says that only a few families are benefiting from having reserve seats.
The agitator said- this demonstration for fundamental rights
JKJAAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir said- Our campaign is for the fundamental rights denied for 70 years … Either right, otherwise, or else the people’s anger. “He has also sought compensation and government job for the families of those killed.
Mir gave a strong warning to the government of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said- This strike is ‘Plan A’. People’s patience is broken. We have backup plans and Plan D will be very dangerous.
Journalists entry ban in Pok
The Government of Pakistan has banned the entry of journalists and tourists in POK. Local reporters are also alleging that they are being prevented from doing neutral coverage. Apart from this, many human rights organizations are also raising their voice on this issue.
The internet has been discontinued from midnight in Pok. The government fears that these demonstrations may change in demand for independence.
There were many demonstrations in POK before
POK has also had protests against the army and the government many times before. In May last year, people went on strike for cheap flour and electricity. People say that Mangala Dam present in Pok produces electricity, yet they do not get cheap electricity.
Similarly, in 2023, people came out on the streets against increasing electricity prices and removal of wheat subsidy. In 2022, people blocked roads against a government law and raised slogans of independence.
