Prime Minister Modi on Friday spoke to Indian pilot Smit Machhar and praised his bravery. Modi told Captain Smit, ‘The whole country is praying for you. Mahamrityunjay Mantra is being chanted for your good health. Your courage and wisdom saved the lives of many people.
The Prime Minister said that the country can proudly say that Indians are not people who take the lives of others, but are people who risk their lives to save the lives of others.
During a conversation with the PM, Smit said, ‘Whenever I am in trouble, I read Hanuman Chalisa. Even during the incident I was reading Hanuman Chalisa. I know that only God has saved me.

Smit told PM, how he saved the lives of 174 people
Modi asked Smit what had happened at that time. On this he said, ‘At that time I was fighting for my life. There came a moment when I felt that if I did not do something now, everything would be over. I fell down and suffered a lot of injuries.
Smit said,
I have been flying planes for 17 years and have been a captain for the last 11 years. I can know what is happening in the plane even with my eyes closed. When I was falling down, I could feel that the plane was going down. I knew this was the last chance. The door was there and I opened it.

Captain Smit is admitted in the hospital
Captain Smit is currently admitted in a hospital in UAE. He was airlifted from Saudi Arabia to Abu Dhabi yesterday. India’s Ambassador to UAE Deepak Mittal had met Captain Smit and his family in the hospital. He had told that the condition of the pilot is stable and he is recovering rapidly. His morale is also high.
Mittal said that the Captain is getting good treatment and the Indian Embassy is in constant touch with the authorities there. The Ambassador described Captain Smit as a brave son of India. He said his bravery during an air emergency saved hundreds of lives and averted a major accident.

Every citizen of our country is very proud of Smit’s bravery.” The Prime Minister also spoke to the parents and wife of Captain Mosquito. He inquired about his health from father Bhupendrabhai, mother Geetaben and wife Sonalben. Also assured that all possible help will be provided to the pilot and his family from the Indian missions.
Trump and Netanyahu were called heroes
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also praised the bravery of Indian pilot Captain Smit Machar and described him as a “true hero”.
Netanyahu said the Mosquito’s bravery helped save the lives of 174 people on board the plane. US President Trump also called Captain Machar a hero and praised his bravery.

The pilot was injured after the attack, the doctor present on the flight gave him first aid.
Captain Smit has been a pilot in SpiceJet for 11 years.
Prior to flydubai, Smit worked at SpiceJet for over 11 years. Here he flew more than 9500 hours. Of these, more than 6400 hours were as the chief pilot i.e. pilot-in-command of the aircraft.
He joined flydubai in June 2022. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has more than 13 years of experience flying commercial aircraft. He has flown about 9750 hours on Boeing 737 aircraft.
Apart from this, he also used to train the pilots, test them and guide them during their work.
Israel and Gujarat government will honor
Israel will honor Captain Smit Mosquito. Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar gave this information while talking to India Today.
At the same time, Gujarat government has also announced to honor Captain Smit with ‘Vishisht Gujarat Garima Puraskar’.
