Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting with Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector stalwarts and CEOs of top companies at his residence 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. In this meeting, making India a global leader in the field of AI and promoting indigenous technology was discussed. While interacting with the CEOs, the PM said that just as India has shown its technological prowess to the world through UPI, there is a need to do the same in the field of AI. Heads of big companies like Wipro, TCS, Zoho and Jio attended this meeting. This meeting has been organized before the ‘India-AI Impact Summit’ to be held next month i.e. in February, so that strategic coordination can be achieved. After the meeting, HCL Tech CEO C Vijayakumar said that the Prime Minister’s understanding and clarity regarding AI is really surprising and inspiring. Success model like UPI will be brought in AI also. During the conversation, the Prime Minister said that India has proved through UPI (Unified Payments Interface) that we can adopt technology on a large scale and make it successful. He stressed that a similar model can be replicated in the field of AI. According to the PM, because of the power of scale, diversity and democracy that India has, the whole world trusts India’s digital infrastructure. He appealed to the companies to not only impact India with their technology but also inspire the entire world. ‘No compromise’ on indigenous technology and ethical use PM Modi talked about adopting new technology in the development of the country and linking it with the growth of the nation. He appealed to everyone to increase the use of ‘indigenous technology’ in important sectors. The Prime Minister also took a strong stance on issues of security and ethics. He said that the AI ecosystem should be transparent, fair and secure. The PM said in blunt words that no compromise should be made on the ‘ethical use’ of AI. India’s AI ecosystem should reflect the character and values of the country. Focus on ‘AI for All’ and data security: While discussing about his vision ‘For All’, the Prime Minister said that we have to democratize technology. Emphasizing on data security, he asked experts to make India a preferred destination for global AI efforts. He said that there is no dearth of talent in India, so now we have to pay maximum attention to ‘AI skilling’ and ‘talent building’. Referring to the summit, the Prime Minister said that all companies should take advantage of this opportunity and explore new possibilities. Heads of big tech companies were present. Heads of renowned companies in the IT and tech sector participated in this high-level meeting. This included CEOs of Wipro, TCS, HCL Tech, Zoho Corporation, LTI Mindtree, Jio Platforms, Adani-Connex. Apart from this, experts from IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and IIIT Hyderabad also gave their suggestions. Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Minister of State Jitin Prasad were also present in the meeting.
