A second-division match in Ecuador produced one of football’s strangest moments when a medical cart carrying an injured player accidentally collided with another player.

Football has seen its fair share of bizarre incidents over the years, but a second-division match in Ecuador delivered a moment that left fans both stunned and amused.
During a LigaPro Serie B clash between L.D.U. Portoviejo and El Nacional on Sunday, a medical cart transporting an injured player somehow became part of the action itself.
The unusual incident occurred in the 72nd minute with Portoviejo leading 1-0. As the medical vehicle made its way along the touchline after assisting an injured player, veteran midfielder Edison Caicedo found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Caicedo had been speaking with a member of the coaching staff near the bench and appeared unaware that the cart was approaching from behind. As he turned back toward the pitch, he made contact with the vehicle and immediately went down clutching his right knee.
The collision sparked confusion on the sideline.
Tempers Flare On The Touchline
Portoviejo staff members quickly rushed toward the scene, with several confronting the cart driver. Head coach Raúl Duarte was visibly frustrated and could be seen arguing on the sidelines as players and staff attempted to understand how such an incident had occurred.
Video footage of the moment quickly spread across social media, where fans reacted with a mixture of disbelief and humour.
Some questioned why the cart did not provide any warning as it approached.
Others were less sympathetic, arguing that Caicedo had simply walked into the vehicle after failing to notice it.
Thankfully, No Serious Damage
Despite initially collapsing in pain and requiring attention from medical staff, the outcome could have been much worse.
Fortunately for Portoviejo, Caicedo did not suffer a serious injury. The 36-year-old was able to continue playing and completed the remainder of the match.
The bizarre interruption ultimately had little impact on the result, with Portoviejo holding on for a 1-0 victory.
Still, while the three points were important, the image of a footballer being accidentally taken out by a medical cart may be what most people remember from this match.
