Phil Foden isn’t going anywhere.

The Manchester City playmaker has reportedly reached an agreement in principle on a new deal that will keep him at the Etihad until 2030.

According to The Athleticthe new contract will replace his existing terms, which currently run until 2027, and includes an additional 12-month extension option.

The final details are expected to be wrapped up soon.

Interestingly, Foden might have also received a nice little assist from a pretty well-known teammate — Erling Haaland.

It is believed that Foden’s negotiations were facilitated by super agent Rafaela Pimenta, best known for representing Haaland.

Form Dip, But Future Secured

The timing of the deal comes amid a challenging spell for Foden. The 25-year-old has found minutes harder to come by under Pep Guardiola, with players like Eberechi Eze and Jeremy Doku currently preferred in attacking roles.

But City’s faith in Foden hasn’t wavered.

The 2023/24 Premier League Player of the Season is still viewed as central to Guardiola’s next phase, particularly as a creative force in midfield.

With Bernardo Silva expected to move on this summer, Foden could be primed to take on a more consistent central role.

England Ambitions in Focus

Beyond club football, Foden has another goal in mind: securing his place in England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

New England boss Thomas Tuchel has already hinted that spots in the 24-man squad aren’t guaranteed, adding urgency to Foden’s push for form and consistency.

A City Boy Through and Through

Few players embody Manchester City quite like Foden.

He joined the club as an under-nine and has grown into one of its modern greats. Since making his senior debut at 17, he’s racked up 110 goals and 66 assists in 365 appearances, alongside a glittering trophy haul.

Six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a UEFA Champions League medal already sit on his résumé — nothing to scoff at.
