A newly surfaced video captures the moment a powerful explosion erupted outside the headquarters of Pakistan’s paramilitary Federal Constabulary (FC) in Peshawar on Monday, leaving at least three security personnel dead.
The attack occurred around 8 am on a busy city road when three suicide bombers attempted to force their way into the FC complex.
According to City Police Chief Mian Saeed, cited by PTI, one attacker blew himself up at the main entrance while the other two managed to get inside the premises but were shot dead during an exchange of fire.
CCTV footage from the scene shows a guard positioned near the entrance moments before a massive blast rocks the gate area.
The 45-second clip also shows an injured person stumbling inside the compound, followed by vehicles frantically driving away from the site.
According to reports, the bomber who detonated at the gate was draped in a shawl and triggered his explosives after approaching the checkpoint, while his accomplices attempted to storm the compound.
“Three militants initially tried to attack the headquarters. One blew himself up at the gate, and the other two were neutralised by FC personnel,” Saeed told reporters.
Residents in nearby areas said they heard loud explosion-like sounds coming from the direction of the FC facility.
Authorities later confirmed that two blasts occurred inside the complex, with one at the main gate and another near a motorcycle parking area, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed told AFP.
The assault unfolded as staff gathered for the start of the workweek. Hospital officials said five people, including three civilians, sustained injuries in the incident.
