More US troops have died during the war with Iran than the Pentagon has publicly disclosed, the Washington Post reported on Friday, citing six US officials familiar with the Defense Department’s internal casualty accounting.
According to five of the officials, at least 22 military fatalities have occurred since the conflict began on 28 February — four more than the figure listed in the Pentagon’s public casualty database.
A sixth official suggested the toll could be even higher, at 23. In addition, three US contractors operating in the region have also died during the conflict, officials said.
