A big Permanent Account Number (PAN) card update is coming soon, and it could change how you apply. The deadline is approaching, so acting now can save time and effort later.

From April 1 this year, new PAN application rules will be introduced across India. These changes will affect documents, forms, and the overall application process.

Till March 31, 2026, you can apply for PAN using only your Aadhaar card. This is the easiest and quickest way to complete your application right now.

After the deadline, Aadhaar alone will not be enough for new PAN applications. Applicants will need to submit extra proof along with Aadhaar details.

One key change is related to date of birth (DoB) verification. Additional documents will be required along with Aadhaar to confirm birth details.

Accepted documents include a birth certificate, voter ID, passport, driving licence, and matriculation certificate. Affidavits and other government documents may also be used if needed.

It is important to keep in mind that the old PAN application forms will not be accepted after April 1, 2026. New forms will be introduced and shared for all applicants.

Another important change is related to your name on the PAN card. From April 2026, your PAN name must match exactly with your Aadhaar details.

This update was shared by Common Services Centres, a Government of India initiative on X (formerly Twitter). It works under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

For any queries, people can write to abhirendra.pal@csc.gov.in for more details and support. Do not forget to apply before March 31, 2026, to avoid extra steps later.
