Colombia face Portugal in their Group K fixture in the FIFA World Cup 2026 at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida on Saturday.
The fixture has been touted as the most in-demand group stage match at the World Cup, with resale value of tickets priced at over $7,000.
Both teams have all but secured their places in the knockout rounds, but there is still plenty at stake as the group winners are likely to receive a more favourable Round of 32 matchup. Colombia enter the final group fixture in a commanding position, with consecutive victories over Uzbekistan and DR Congo meaning a draw will be enough to finish at the top of the standings.
Néstor Lorenzo’s side have been among the standout performers of the tournament so far. Solid defensive organisation, relentless work in midfield and the attacking brilliance of Luis Díaz have combined to produce two convincing wins, leaving Los Cafeteros firmly in control of their group.
Portugal, however, must claim all three points if they are to leapfrog Colombia into first place. Roberto Martínez’s men began their campaign with a disappointing draw against DR Congo but responded in emphatic style by thrashing Uzbekistan 5-0. Cristiano Ronaldo was the driving force behind that victory, once again demonstrating why Portugal are regarded as genuine contenders for World Cup glory.
With Colombia already assured of qualification and Portugal virtually certain to progress, neither side needs to approach the match cautiously. Instead, both teams can play with greater freedom, creating the ingredients for what could be one of the most exciting contests of the group stage.
Portugal possess an abundance of attacking firepower through Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and João Félix, while Colombia have enough creativity and quality going forward to ensure this promises to be an entertaining and open affair.
