ICAI postpones CA exams in Kathmandu due to genz protest.
ICAI CA Exam Dates: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will soon announce revised CA exam dates for centres in Kathmandu, Nepal. Earlier, the exams scheduled for September 9 and 10 were postponed and new dates will be shared once the situation improves.
ICAI President explained that exam postponements are only made when holding exams becomes impossible. “Wherever there are disturbances, we defer the exam. Once the atmosphere becomes peaceful, we are very keen to conduct our exams as soon as possible,” he said.
The postponement applies only to Kathmandu, and all other centres in India and abroad are conducting exams as scheduled. Students outside Kathmandu should report as per their admit cards.
The postponement comes amid ongoing Gen Z protests in Nepal. The protests erupted after the government temporarily banned 26 popular social media platforms, citing registration issues under new rules.
Young people, heavily reliant on these platforms, were outraged. The unrest also reflected broader frustration over corruption, nepotism, and inequality. Protests escalated into violence, including arson at key government buildings.
Following the unrest, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on September 9, along with several ministers and MPs from major political parties.

Second Disruption This Month
This is the second disruption of ICAI exams in September. Earlier, papers scheduled on September 2 and 3 in Punjab were postponed due to severe flooding. While exams in Punjab resumed from September 6, revised dates for the missed papers, along with those for Kathmandu, are yet to be announced.
