A 15-year-old girl in Puri, Odisha, was set ablaze by three miscreants, sustaining 70-75% burns. She is in critical condition at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

The 15-year-old girl student, who sustained severe burn injuries after being allegedly set ablaze by three miscreants in Odisha’s Puri, has been put on oxygen support as her condition remained critical, AIIMS Bhubaneswar said.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar director Ashutosh Biswar said that the victim is currently under medical care at the hospital and has been put on oxygen support as suffered 70 to 75% burn injuries.
He further said that the teen would be kept under observation for the next 72 hours as she is also facing cardiology-related issues. “A team of doctors is providing treatment,” Biswar added.
What Happened To The Girl?
The 15-year-old victim was allegedly set on fire by three unidentified individuals in the Boiabara area of Puri district on Friday. According to local sources, the incident occurred around 8:30 am when the victim, a Class 12 student, was walking home from school.
Three individuals reportedly approached her and attempted to set her on fire. Nearby residents intervened quickly, managed to put out the flames, and took the injured to the nearest medical facility for treatment.
The Balanga Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
The family has ruled out any personal enmity or a love-revenge case as possible cases, officials said. As of now, the identity of the accused is not confirmed, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida condemned the incident and directed the police to arrest the culprit immediately and take strong action.
Authorities have stated that further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
