Ajit Doval attended the National Unity Day program in Delhi.
National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval said on Friday, ‘The real strength of a nation lies in the strength of its governments. Recent regime changes in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal are examples of bad governance.
He said- When governments are weak, selfish or confused, the result is also the same. Institutions are the backbone of the nation and the people who build and nurture them strengthen the foundation of the nation.
Doval said that the fall of great empires, democracies and monarchies has always been due to misgovernance. When governance becomes dictatorial and institutions begin to weaken, the country moves towards decline.
During the lecture on National Unity Day in Delhi, Doval said..

From the perspective of a security officer, I consider governance not just as administration but as a mechanism for the security and development of the nation. Transforming a civilization into a nation-state is a difficult task, and is possible only with strong governance. The government should work beyond normal expectations.

Doval gave three reasons for bad governance
- Dictatorship Tendency: Discriminatory laws, delayed justice and human rights violations.
- Institutional decline: Corrupt or insensitive military, bureaucracy and security structures.
- Economic failure: Shortage of food, water, inflation and burden of taxes.
Doval said- New challenges make governance more complex
NSA Doval said that now the government has to face new circumstances. The biggest change is the increasing awareness of the common man. Now he is more aspirational, his expectations have increased and the state will have to become accountable.
Doval said- India is in the era of orbit change.
He said that India is currently in a phase of not just change, but an orbit change. We are in a situation where the governance system, social structure and global system are undergoing rapid change. At such times, Sardar Patel’s thinking becomes more effective.
NSA said that there is a need to understand Sardar Patel’s vision afresh in 2025. He had shown how only a strong and fair governance system could unite a country full of diversity.
