1. TRAI imposed fine on Jio, Airtel, VI and BSNL: Had failed to stop spam call-messages, total fine of ₹ 141 crore owed on companies

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI has imposed fine on Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (VI) and BSNL for failing to stop spam calls and messages. This information has been given in the report of Economic Times.
Apart from four big companies, TRAI has also imposed fine on many small telecom operators. TRAI has imposed this fine on all the companies under the Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR). In the latest round, TRAI has imposed a total fine of ₹ 12 crore on all the companies.

2. Honda-Nissan merger will take place in June: Companies signed MOU; Together they will form a holding company and will also do separate work for their brand.

Japanese car makers Honda and Nissan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding or MOU for the merger. The first phase of talks took place between the companies on Monday (23 December). The companies have given this information in the official statement.
This merger of Honda-Nissan may be finalized by June next year. Through this deal, the companies will form a holding company in which both will have equal stake. The new holding company will be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) by August 2026. Apart from this, both will also work to enhance their respective brands.

3. Stock market will open on Saturday, the day of budget: Trading will happen on BSE-NSE like normal, commodity derivatives segment will also open.

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain open on Saturday, February 1, 2025 due to the Union Budget. On that day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her eighth Union Budget.
Both the exchanges will remain open for normal trade as usual from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. The commodity derivatives segment will also be open for trading in the morning session on February 1.

4. Companies will issue separate packs for calling: 30 crore users who do not buy dual-SIM and data packs will benefit.

Telecom companies will now have to provide separate option of voice + SMS pack to their users. Because many users use the phone only for calling. But they have to recharge for calling+SMS with the existing data pack, which is quite expensive.

5. ‘Gold’ edition of Ola S1 Pro revealed: 24 carat gold elements in electric scooter, range up to 195km on full charge

Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ola Electric has revealed the gold limited edition of the S1 Pro, the top model of its EV lineup. The new electric scooter is based on the S1 Pro and some cosmetic changes have been made in it. 24 carat gold plated elements have been used in the e-scooter.
The mirror handle, brake lever, side stand, pillion footrest and grab rail of the scooter are coated with 24 carat coating. Apart from this, there is no mechanical change in the scooter. Like before, the scooter will get an IDC range of up to 195km on full charge. The company has not officially confirmed the number of limited scooters.

6. Honda announced to increase the price of cars: Company’s cars will become 2% costlier from January 1, due to increase in manufacturing cost.

After Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors, Honda Cars India has also announced to increase the prices of its cars. Company’s Vice President Marketing Kunal Bahl said that the prices of Honda cars will increase by 2%. The new prices will come into effect from January 2025.
Bahl said that the company is making continuous efforts to ensure that the customers are not affected by the increase in costs. He said the price of the recently launched third generation Amaze will be reviewed in mid-January.
