NIRF University Rankings 2025: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (Nirf) 2025 results. In the universities category, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has once again secured the top position, repeating its 2024 performance.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi continues to hold the second rank, while the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has improved its standing, moving up two places to claim the third spot this year.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi has also climbed higher, now ranked fourth, followed by the University of Delhi at the fifth position.

The 2025 edition of the NIRF rankings marks its 10th year. The release was delayed following a temporary stay by the Madras High Court amid concerns over transparency and data accuracy.

In 2024, IIT Madras led the overall university rankings for the sixth consecutive year, while Hindu College claimed the top spot among colleges nationwide. IIT Madras and AIIMS Delhi were ranked first in the engineering and medical categories, respectively.
