Nicholas Hoult, Daisy Edgar-Jones reunite in Disney+ UK comedy series Mosquito

Disney+ has ordered a new UK original comedy series titled Mosquitobringing together Nicholas Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones in a deliciously offbeat pairing. Created by Oscar-nominated writer Tony McNamara, the series promises a sly, darkly comic dive into marriage, all sparked by an unexpected troublemaker: a mosquito. Filming begins in 2026.

The six-episode series follows Kate and Ed, a young couple whose carefully curated lives start to unravel as long-buried secrets bubble to the surface. The catalyst? A tiny, intrusive mosquito that slowly chips away at the faades they present to the world, turning everyday domesticity into a sharp, sardonic character study.

Hoult and Edgar-Jones are no strangers to Hulu originals. Hoult fronted McNamara’s hit series The Greatwhile Edgar-Jones earned widespread praise, and a Golden Globe nomination, for Normal People. Their reunion under the Disney umbrella marks a high-profile collaboration that’s already fuelling anticipation.

McNamara shared his excitement about the project, saying, “I’m thrilled and excited to work with and team up two of the best actors around. I can’t wait to go make absurd comedy with them.”

The series is produced by 20th Television, Piggy Ate Roast Beef Productions and Hustle & Punch. Executive producers include McNamara, Hoult, Edgar-Jones, Marian Macgowan, Tracy Underwood and Daniel Pipski. The commission comes from Disney+ executive Lee Mason, shortly after Angela Jain stepped in as Head of Content, Disney+ EMEA.
