1. New rules for online gaming will come into effect from May 1: Gaming certificate will now be valid for 10 years; Games without money are exempted from registration

The Central Government has issued a notification for the formation of Online Gaming Authority of India (OGAI) to regulate online gaming in the country. This new system will become effective in the entire country from May 1 under the Online Gaming Regulation Act-2025.
Under the new rules, the validity of the certificate has been doubled, giving a big relief to the gaming companies. IT Secretary S. Krishnan said that the government has adopted a light-touch regulatory approach for the gaming industry, so that there is no unnecessary burden on startups and developers.
